Why We’re Not Doing Our Own Sew Alongs (And Why That’s a Good Thing)
Spoiler alert: this isn’t a bad news post—it’s a celebration of doing less of what drains us and more of what lights us up.

We’ve got some exciting news to share—we’re teaming up with Mari from Sew Happy to take over our sew alongs!
If you’ve been around here a while, you know we’re all about creating joyful, approachable sewing experiences. And we love seeing our patterns come to life in your hands. But when it came to filming full-on sew alongs? We had to take a moment and admit something important…
We’re just not the right people for the job.
Outsourcing with Intention
We realized that while we could technically fumble our way through recording a sew along, we’d be doing our community (and ourselves) a disservice.
Mari, on the other hand? She’s a natural.
Her background in teaching special education and high school English means she brings clarity, patience, and encouragement to every video she makes. She’s been sharing colorful, practical projects on YouTube since 2022, and when we watched her sew alongs, we immediately thought: this is the person our community deserves.
We’re thrilled to have her lead the way. You’re going to love her.
The Bigger Lesson: Stay in Your Genius Zone
This decision isn’t just about sew alongs—it’s about how we run our business.
As small business owners, it’s easy to fall into the mindset of “I’ll just do it myself.” We’ve both been there. A few minutes here, a couple hours there… and suddenly, we’re drowning in tasks we don’t enjoy and aren’t great at.
The truth? There’s almost always someone out there who can do certain things better than you. And that’s not a weakness—it’s a gift. ✨
Letting go of tasks that drain us gives us the time and energy to focus on the things we do love—like designing patterns, sourcing beautiful fabric, and building this warm, creative community.
It’s a lesson we wish we’d embraced more in our first business. And one we’re leaning into fully now.
