Beautiful fabric

This is a really lovely fabric, except for the thick coating of some slick and heavy chemicals on it. After I washed it six (!) times, it was much lighter and felt like normal soft linen. Of course it wrinkled in the dryer and will need some serious ironing. It hardly frayed at all, just a little on the cut ends, which was easily trimmed off. And the woven pattern will make it easy to cut accurately. Not sure what was in the coating or what it was for. This is my first fabric purchase from matchy matchy, I had previously bought and used patterns which worked well. I’d like to get more fabrics at some point, wondering if they are all chemically treated in the same way.
