The Colorblock Set sewing pattern brings effortless style, bold colorplay, and endless creativity to your handmade wardrobe. This beginner-friendly pattern is an exciting twist on the popular Craft Studio Tee, reimagined with a modern checkerboard design and three versatile views—so you can make it your own.

With its wide, boxy fit, clean bias-bound neckline, and short sleeves finished with a mini cuff, this set is as easy to wear as it is to sew. Each version is designed to be approachable for beginners—no complicated techniques, just straightforward, joyful sewing.

Choose from three playful views:

  • Cropped Tee – four bold colorblock panels for a graphic, modern look
  • Gathered Peplum Top – sweet, relaxed, and perfect for everyday wear
  • Mini Dress – an instant summer statement piece

All three styles use the same simple pattern piece, making this an efficient and flexible project. Just measure, cut, and sew—whether you’re pairing solid colors, mixing prints, or making the most of your scrap stash.

Like all Matchy Matchy Sewing Club patterns, The Colorblock Set uses simple shapes and easy construction, so you can skip the overwhelm and dive straight into the joy of making. Perfect for creating unique, handmade garments that show off your personality.

Fun top easy pattern

Loved the way my first try turned out. I used a solid and gingham linen from Blackbird fabrics. Linen is a great weight for this pattern. The style is fun, comfy, and casual but dressy enough to wear everywhere.

Fun and easy pattern

This one was fun and fast to make. It was a one-day project. I enjoyed mixing with the fabric I had available. I wore it and it was comfortable. The only thing I would change next time would be the length of the bust area, as it cuts a little weirdly on me. I'm a 36DD for reference. I did change the neckline area to be visible instead.

Nice pattern!

This was a quick and easy pattern to sew. The final result is an adorable and unique looking shirt that’s perfect for summer! I made mine from a linen cotton blend and it’s so nice to wear.

Super cute and easy pattern!!

I am new to garment making, so this free pattern was an awesome way to learn some basics. I loved how easy the instructions were to follow, and how fast this made up. I was able to use a thrifted bed sheet to make this, and I think it worked perfectly for this style. Thank you for a fun, accessible pattern!

Simple and quick make!

Absolutely loved making the dress and it can totally be done in a day by a confident beginner but damn its a short dress. Even at 5 foot 5 I felt like I needed to add length to it. When I made it a second time I added a second band (12 inches longer) of alternating colours onto the bottom to make it a mid calf length dress which I am much more comfortable with and know I can bend over without fear of showing anything off ;)
