LA Wildfire Fundraiser
Like most of you we watched with broken hearts as the Palisades and Eaton wildfires broke out in LA on January 7, 2025.
We are both southern California natives and Matchy Matchy is based in Los Angeles. Thankfully, both our homes are safe and our studio is out of harm’s way.

💔💔💔
Matchy would not exist without the amazing sewing community made up of kind and generous sewists around the world and here at home in LA.
We have multiple friends and colleagues that have lost everything. Through listening to our friends and neighbors we have decided the best thing we can do in this moment is to donate directly to those we know personally. Below are a few of the fundraisers we will be donating to. Please join with us in helping. Your kindness and generosity means more than you know.
If you, a family member or friend has been affected by the fires please reach out so we can help directly.

Apodaca + Fenard and Families
Like so many others, the Apodaca/Fenard families found themselves having to very quickly evacuate their homes as the Eaton Canyon fire took over Altadena. Less than 12 hours later, Gina, Ria, and their mother Carmen, along with their families, had a total loss of all 3 of their homes.

Ken + Shino | Fugu Fugu Press
On January 6th, Ken Charlson sat with Shino Arihara as she received a seven-hour chemotherapy and immunotherapy dose to treat Stage 3 ovarian and uterine cancer. On January 8th, their home and livelihoods (a letterpress print shop and music studio) burned to the ground in the Eaton Fire.

Cheryl + Aaron
Cheryl is a Matchy customer we have had the pleasure of meeting in person at events around LA. She messaged to let us know that she was wearing a Matchy dress she purchased at West Coast Craft when she left her home and it's one of the few clothing items she has left.
Cheryl and her husband Aaron lost everything—their home, belongings, and neighborhood, along with the memories they were building in Altadena to the Eaton fire.
