Why We Love It

We picked this knit because it has that really nice balance of softness, stretch, and substance. It has a little more weight than your average jersey, which we especially love for cooler weather and winter sewing, but it still feels soft and comfortable against the skin.

The stretch has great recovery, so it moves with you without feeling loose or flimsy, and the knit itself just feels really lovely and substantial in your hands.

Fabric Details

Choose this fabric when you want a knit with a little more substance but still plenty of stretch and comfort. It's a great option for projects that need a bit of structure without feeling stiff or bulky, and its excellent recovery helps garments keep their shape through everyday wear.

Content: 95% Cotton / 5% Spandex
Width: 68.8" / 175 cm
Weight: 245 gsm / 7.2 oz
Stripe Width: 3/8 inch / 1 cm

What It's Like to Sew

This is a really nice knit to work with. The midweight feel gives it a little more stability than a lightweight jersey, so it doesn’t feel quite as delicate or slippery while cutting and sewing. If you’re newer to sewing knits, this is a fun one to try.

What to Sew

This is such a fun fabric for cozy, everyday pieces. Use it for relaxed styles that show off the retro stripes, or take advantage of its stretch and recovery for more fitted garments.

  • Oversized tees and long-sleeve tops
  • Fitted tees and tanks
  • Pajama sets
  • Joggers and lounge pants
  • Cozy shorts
  • Sweatshirts and pullovers
  • Close-fitting layering pieces
  • Knit dresses and skirts

A little yardage tip: This jersey is wider than many standard knit fabrics at 68.8" (175 cm), so you may be able to get more out of your yardage! Keep that extra width in mind when planning your projects, and always double-check your pattern's layout and fabric requirements before ordering.

Care & Color Notes

Cotton knit fabric can shrink quite a bit, so we strongly recommend prewashing and drying your fabric in the same way you plan to care for your finished garment. You may want to purchase a little extra fabric to account for shrinkage and matching the stripes. We suggest a minimum of 1/2 yard extra.

We do our very best to photograph our fabrics as accurately as possible, but every screen displays color a little differently. Because of this, the color you see on your computer, tablet, or phone may not be an exact match to the fabric in person. If color is especially important for your project, we always recommend ordering a swatch first.
