The Recess Play Pants are an everyday easy fitting pant with plenty of room for comfort. They feature an elasticated waistband, separated slant front pockets and optional back pocket(s). The seam down the center front and center back legs allows for optimal patchwork fun. The rise hits just slightly below the natural waist. The pattern is drafted as a full length pant giving you the flexibility to wear them full length or cuffed. The pattern can also be easily shortened to ankle length or lengthened as needed. View A has a 2" (5 cm) wide hem. View B has an elasticated mini peplum cuff for some added sass.
With all Matchy Matchy sewing patterns, we've designed the Recess Play Pants to have simple shapes and easy construction to take the overwhelm out of sewing and to help you find the joy of discovery.
Chelsea (short hair) is 5'5" and Morgan is 5'9". Both are wearing a size small with no modifications.

This pattern was easy to make and the instructions were very easy to follow. I really appreciated the instructions that called for finishing seams and top stitching. The pants looks great when I finished them.
First time I’ve tried making pants for myself. I’ve always had a hard time finding RTW pants that fit all my areas. I’m a short inseam, long torso, with wide hips and thighs. I made a practice pair, sizing down after reading the reviews, and it fits really well. I do appreciate the detailed instructions with illustrations, they’re very helpful. I can see many pairs in different fabrics in my future.
Loved sewing up these pants. The instructions were easy to follow and I was able to use up some scraps. I sized down based on some reviews I found on Instagram and was glad I did.
Easy to follow, went for the XXS size based on my measurements and was very generous with seam allowance. Scale was correct but somehow they fit my boyfriend who wears a men's medium or large. Going to have to unpick and bring them in this weekend. Major project which should've been quite quick.
Pattern was easy to follow, I love your print at home patterns! I used cotton fabric, and the pattern of these pants is so comfy! Also love that you have multiple sizes to choose from. 5/5!
