I used to sew when I was a kid and 30 plus years later I've got the sewing bug back. This pattern was so easy to follow and I have gotten so many compliments. I'm totally going to make more of this dress!
Was very happy to get an email with pattern attached but shocked at how much it was going to cost to have it printed so I will not be making this dress. 😟😟😟
I love, love, love this pattern and it's sister, the Collage Gather Top! I have literally made these patterns 5 times over. I love the creativity of choosing different fabrics. Each one is a unique piece. The pattern itself is straight-forward. The only tricky part is the gathering of the side pieces, but when you've done it once, it's easy.
I’m excited to make this as I have so many really nice printed fabrics in my stash. These will be perfect for the dress, I sent the pdf file to Tape Free Patterns and for 1.40/page they printed it out and mailed to me with real nice envelope. Two pages and shipping cost me another 7$. Many options there as they would print out as is or in a particular size. I traced a large off pattern and cut it out so I’m ready to roll. Just haven’t had time to go any further. I love the dress design and the flexibility and having already downloaded the instructions and read them, I say they are very well written. I’ll send update with photos when done.
This dress pattern is so unique! I made a mistake in my ordering (shirt vs dress pattern) and matchy-matchy got back to me immediately and helped me correct it. Amazing customer service!
I would note that if you’re planning to turn a fabric sideways for the side panels to have some pattern variation, be very aware of the drape of that particular fabric. I attempted first this dress with the ikat running horizontally on the sides and it was a mess- it ballooned out and looked pretty round. I picked it out and replaced with some midweight linen (cut on grain, as directed!) and it has perfect better drape now. I will be making a solid dress next!
